In Memory – Bonnie

Bonnie was one of my FAVORITE dogs in the world and I was so sad to find out that she had passed away. It’s not that she didn’t live a long, wonderful life – she did! She moved from Texas to Oregon and was integrated into a family with 4 other dogs. She belonged to my very first dog walking client (now the owner of a fantastic pet boutique – PetUtopia!) It was love at first site for me! Margie always joked that I could take Bonnie home if I loved her so much . .but there was one small problem- Bonnie was used to protecting her farm in Texas and was somewhat of a ‘kitty killer’. As much as I loved Bonnie- I had three cats at home to think about! Still, I took every opportunity to snuggle with her and I loved her with all of my heart. I’m so grateful to have these pictures to remind me of her. The first picture is one of my all-time favorites and the second one is one of her mom’s favorites (Bonnie was quite the watch dog!) As you can see, she was a beautiful girl with big brown eyes that could melt your heart!

Rest in peace sweet Bonnie, I will miss you! bonnie

Happy Fall!

I am often amazed at the rate that time seems to zoom by – how is it possible that I have not posted on my blog in over a month? I apologize for getting so wrapped up in the “busy”ness of life! Fall is absolutely my favorite time of year. There is just something about all of the beautiful colors and the cool, crisp air that makes me feel giddy! It’s also the time of year when Cali’s allergies finally start to settle down and we begin to see our nearly eleven year old dog start to act like a young pup again! She loves the cold weather and you can tell by the gleam in her eye and the bounce in her step. We both feel invigorated by the cooler weather! I hope you are enjoying your Fall!!

“Best Bully Sticks” Rocks!

Every Friday, Cali gets a bully stick as a treat. She knows exactly what day Friday is, and she starts getting excited early in the day. If we forget, she stands around staring at us until we remember! She’s a pretty patient girl, but she knows what is coming on Friday and she wants to make sure we don’t forget her. She hasn’t had a bully stick in a few weeks because we’ve been trying to get her allergies under control, but this week we decided that she deserved it- she has had a rough few weeks dealing with allergies, hot spots and a bladder infection!

I found Best Bully Sticks on Twitter . . . I don’t know if you have ever purchased bully sticks for your dog, but they can be a little on the expensive side! Best Bully Sticks sent us a free sample and Cali has been patiently waiting to try it out. As you can see – Cali seemed very happy with the sample and we can’t wait to get on-line and buy some more! If you have a dog that loves bully sticks – check them out!! Their website is adorable and easy to navigate and their prices are GREAT!!

My girl Cali

Last night after work, instead of going for a run, Cali and I played in the backyard. The light was so beautiful and she was having so much fun playing with her favorite toy (Kong on a rope) that I thought I would take some photos (big surprise!).

I think she is the prettiest dog in the whole world, but I’m sure we all feel that way about our fur kids, right? Every time she flashes those big brown eyes at me, I smile I’m the luckiest girl in the world to share my life with this sweet dog – she may have a few problems with allergies, but no one’s perfect!

I also have a little kitty named Zuni that we swear is the best cat in the world- she’s shy, so unfortunately no one ever gets to see her cute personality – she saves that just for us

On another note, our blueberry bushes are in FULL bloom and we will never be able to eat them all!! If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and pick a few – they are delicious!!

Meet Benny & Tucker!

I am lucky enough to live next door to some really cool people, Pam & Bill and their two adorable dogs Tucker & Benny. I found out soon after we moved in that Pam works for Project Pooch a non profit dog adoption program that pairs incarcerated youths with homeless shelter dogs. The incarcerated youths learn to train their dogs (with the guidance of professionals), groom them, and prepare them for new adoptive homes. It’s such a wonderful program! For many of the dogs, this is their last chance and as you can imagine, it’s a wonderful opportunity for the youths to learn some valuable life skills. Check out their website and consider donating to this wonderful non-profit!!

Pam & Bills’ dog Benny was trained by one of the youths in the program. Benny is a beautiful boy with big, brown, soulful eyes and he is a sweet pea! Tucker is the big brother and seems pretty happy about sharing his home with Benny. I took these pictures when I was at their house for a BBQ for Pam’s birthday (I’m sneaky that way . . .I’ve been wanting to photograph the boys!!) Hope you enjoy them!

Lucy the mini-Aussie

I have known Lucy since she was a puppy! She is adorable and SO LOVABLE, she can never get close enough to you!! I love her to death and I was lucky enough to see her over the Memorial Day holiday. My dog Cali is always happy to see Lucy, they are old friends Every summer, Lucy gets a “summer cut” and when I saw her a couple days ago, she was already sporting her new do! So, stay tuned for more pictures of Lucy – she looks totally different with short hair (even more adorable!)

Cali is ready to get the ball if she doesn’t! Look how patient she is!

My new blog and my good friend Jack!

Yay! My new blog is finally up and running! I can’t wait to share all of the fun I have been having photographing dogs, cats and kids! I’m excited to start the blogging off with some fun photos of Jack. Jack is an American Staffordshire Terrier and retired show dog. He is a total ham and could not be any sweeter. I visit Jack Monday thru Friday while his mom & dad are at work and quite honestly I could sit and take photos of him every day. He is so handsome with those big brown eyes (his mom calls him a big cheeseball!) I wish that everyone could meet a pitbull like Jack – then they would realize what sweet, lovable dogs they are!
